For a second year, an Irish missionary team came through ECM International to visit the “Way of Peace” Church in Lushnja. Just like last year, they came to teach an intensive 8-day English course (intermediate and advanced levels) to more than 90 students of the Victory School. Mervyn, Gordon, Zara, Maeve, Johnny, Nialle and Louise, all of different ages and occupations (some of them still students) proved themselves to be more then good teachers. They also became the students’ best friends.
The classes were organized only in the morning, while, in the afternoon, we had many different kinds of activities organized, including a visit to the ancient site of Apollonia. This schedule provided the Irish team, as well as our School staff with many evangelism opportunities with the students, where new friendships were forged and old ones from last years were renewed.
At the end of the course, our School staff organized a Certificate Awarding Show, 14 July 2005. Everything was prepared by our students with the aid and supervision of their Irish teachers. Songs, poetries, tongue-twisters and dramas were skillfully played by the students, much to the joy of everyone present at the Show, especially their parents. Although more than 100 people attended the Show, this didn’t seem to embarrass our kids, who simply seemed to belong to the stage, this thanks to the hard work on the part of the team.
At the end of the Show, the pastor and Foundation Chairman, Albert Dosti, distributed the Certificates of Completion to each student, while the students spontaneously cheered the Irish team with a heartfelt applause for their dedication.
The Irish team has proved to be very instrumental to the work in our church in the last two years, as they have encouraged students to attend our church meetings and activities, and some of the girls this year expressed a real desire to know Christ because of testimonies from members of the Irish team.
