Our Lord Jesus Christ will be worshiped in a new church in the town of Durres, the “Emmanuel” Church

It’s been a year since our church has been praying and has been asking God’s will about planting a new church.

Lately God has led us in the town of Durres. It is 65 km away from Lushnja. This is the second biggest city and it is the main port city in Albania. But there are only 3 evangelical churches there.

After talking to a Christian brother living in Durres, Sokol Kertusha, we saw God answering our prayers. He knew some other believers who wanted to learn more about God and to worship Him in a church. We talked to them about their and our desire. We discussed the doctrine in depth and framed the vision for the future.

On December 23rd, 2007, just a day before Christmas, we met at Sokol’s house as the first meeting of “Emanuel” church. Pastor Berti Dosti, his wife and some people from the church in Lushnja were present in the first meeting. There were about 8 believers from Durres. Sokol opened the meeting in prayer and shared with the others the vision of this new church. Then we had a time of prayer and everyone shared about their faith in Jesus Christ. Everyone felt God’s presence in this first meeting.

“Emmanuel” church is a new part of the Body of Jesus and needs a lot of help in spreading the Word and maturing in the Word. ECMA through the “Way of Peace” church in Lushnja pledged to be like a mother church for them. It will help the “Emmanuel” church in prayer and in practical areas of the ministry.
